Republic of Ireland international McGuinness joined the Blades in the last hours of the summer transfer window on a four-year deal, arriving for an undisclosed fee from Luton Town.

An imposing central defender with plenty of EFL experience despite still having his best years ahead of him, McGuinness began his career at Arsenal, before loan stints at Ipswich Town and Sheffield Wednesday, either side of an impressive permanent stay at Cardiff City prior to hi move to Kenilworth Road.
