Manchester born Rothwell penned a deal until the summer of 2027 at Bramall Lane in February, following a short stint with Rangers after winning the Championship title with Leeds United last term.

The midfielder has an impressive CV, listing Manchester United, Bournemouth and Southampton (where he also won promotion) amongst his former clubs, whilst he has also represented England at various levels in his youth.

In addition to the clubs previously mentioned, Rothwell made over 150 appearances for Blackburn Rovers.
