The 2015 FA Cup Fans Choir have reunited, at a social distance of course, to create a nationwide call to sing the time-honoured traditional anthem 'Abide With Me' that has been sung every year on FA Cup Final day since 1927.

And at 5.30pm on Saturday when the cup final would have kicked off, the choir which includes Blades fan and NHS nurse Rachel Dixon will come together again to sing their 2020 virtual version.

"We're all footy mad and missing our singing!" said Dave Gilhooley, who has compiled a video from Fans Choir members contributions from all over the country.

"It's a chance for all fans from all clubs to sing their footy socks off on their doorsteps for the game they love, and for the NHS and key workers that have sacrificed so much on our behalf."

All 64 clubs in the FA Cup third round during the 2014-15 seasons were represented to sing as part of an FA fans choir, along with Alfie Boe, on the pitch at Wembley during the final that year.

Rachel Dixon, who now resides in the south of the country, but who lived and trained as a nurse in Sheffield for four years, during which time she became an avid Blades fan, was honoured to be the Blades choir representative, as she had also been on duty on the day of the Hillsborough disaster back in April 1989.

So to sing on the pitch at Wembley, representing her beloved Blades, who she has followed through thick and thin since the mid-80s , in front of 90,000 people was a feeling she had never ever experienced, and the roar when they finished was a feeling she will never forget!. It truly was a day to remember!

Now with the lack of football and lockdown from this awful virus, the choir have come together once again to encourage football fans from all clubs throughout the country, to come outside, and sing Abide With Me at kick off time for this year's final. The aim is simple, to try and raise as much money as they can to aid the families of NHS staff, who have so tragically lost their lives during this pandemic.

So please come out on your doorstep at 5.30pm this Saturday and sing with us. Feel free to bring instruments and sing up so we can all hear you!! Players are of course more than welcome to join us and any videos will be gladly appreciated.

A JustGiving page has also been set up, and fans can donate, no matter how big or small, by clicking here.

So join the #AbideWithMeNHS singalong on FA Cup Final day, Saturday 23rd May at 5.30pm.
