Sheffield United are saddened to hear of the passing of former player, Geoff Denial.
Geoff joined United, initially as an amateur, before becoming a professional in January 1952.
He played nine of his ten Football League games for the Club over a seven week spell in the season that United lifted the Second Division Championship in 1952/53, and was registered as a player until 1956 although, as with many players of that time, National Service interrupted his footballing career.
He moved to Headington United as a part-timer and was a huge player for them in their rise into the Football League and during the time they changed their name to Oxford United. He was their captain when they converted to full-time professionalism in 1959 and played for them six times in the "U's" first Football League season of 1962/63.
All at Sheffield United send their deepest sympathies to the Denial family at this sad time.
