'The whole point of promotion to the Premier League for us is also about creating a legacy', those were the words of Stephen Bettis when asked about improving the facilities around the football club, particularly the training ground.

United's chief executive has revealed the club are pretty close to finalising plans for a new first-team building at Shirecliffe, which is scheduled to be built in the summer.

Boss Chris Wilder says the players spend time at the training ground to get 'their hands dirty' first and foremost but admits there are several evolving factors that the club have to keep pace with, enhancing the need for the pending development.

Wilder believes the Blades will continue to attract their targets, but he is also conscious that players need the best possible facilities available to aid their own games and most importantly recovery between fixtures.
