Chris Wilder says John Egan has been rewarded with a new and improved contract for the 'influence he has on the team and the football club'.

Speaking upon confirmation that the Republic of Ireland international has committed his future to United until the summer of 2024, the Blades boss heaped praise on the former Brentford skipper.

Wilder is delighted that Egan has taken his game to the 'next level' during his time at S2 and he is backing the 27-year-old to continue his career progression and enhance his reputation for both club and country in the future.

A 'rock-solid' character who consistently performs against 'world-class players' according to his manager, who insists it's crucial the club's biggest assets are 'secured' for the long-term to enable the Blades to keeping moving forward.
