Chris Basham says boss Chris Wilder was instrumental in him penning a new contract at Bramall Lane.

The popular defender, who last week scooped two Player of the Year awards, recently committed his future at S2 until the summer of 2022 and the 32-year-old says he is delighted to prolong his stay at 'home' acknowledging he couldn't see himself playing his football anywhere else.

Basham believes he has that 'hunger and belief' about tackling the top-flight again next term and admits he's glad he can now just focus on his football.

The ever-reliable performer is also hopeful some of his team-mates will follow his example by committing their long-term futures to the Blades in the coming weeks.
