Billy Sharp has thanked the NHS staff working on the frontline during the current Covid-19 pandemic which continues to keep the country in lockdown at present.
The skipper remarked: "Some of my family are part of it, so it means a lot. But whether your family are involved are not, it still means a lot because they are the people who are fighting for this country at the minute, trying to save lives and do the job they love and are paid to do.
"They don't get paid enough, they don't get enough credit, but the NHS is something that we should be proud of, we need the NHS and they are the people who are putting their lives at risk and we need to make sure we support and appreciate them.
"They are doing some fantastic work at the minute, which they should all be proud of. We need to continue to support them, they are doing an amazing job and hopefully things will slow down for them so they can go back to their normal lives soon."
Meanwhile, Sharp has a message for Blades fans, wherever their location and added: "Make sure you look after the ones around you, keep a smile on their faces and it will keep a smile on yours.
"If we can look after each other in our own households it will be better for the outside world and when this lockdown ends, we can set each other free and get back to normality.
"Football is an amazing sport, full of emotion and I bet there are a lot of fans who can't wait to get back to Bramall Lane, roaring us on and putting their Sheffield United shirt on again."
