United's pre-season preparations continued with another victory - John Fleck, Leon Clarke and Billy Sharp were on target at Bradford.
United's squad list for the game included two trialists - former Ipswich Town striker David McGoldrick started and goalkeeper Luke Steele, ex of Bristol City, was on the bench.
The first chance of the evening fell to McGoldrick, who jinked onto his right foot before shooting at O'Donnell from a narrow angle. The lead for the Blades, though, was moments away. On six minutes, an impressive one-touch passing move on the right saw Leonard lay-off and FLECK beautifully side-footed home with his left, from the edge of the box.
Fleck was involved as Baldock had the ball in the net but an offside flag prevented the Blades doubling the lead. Leonard stepping out of his central defensive role was causing the home side problems and Fleck fired a free-kick at O'Donnell.
United were the dominant force throughout the half and there were a number of intricate moves, including for the second goal on 34 minutes. Lafferty got around the back of the Bradford defence and drew the goalkeeper, allowing CLARKE to slot home.
Bradford made a couple of changes at the break, United maintaining the starting XI, but the home side got themselves back into the game. On 53 minutes PAYNE picked up possession on the edge of the box and curled into the bottom corner, beyond Henderson's right hand.
Within minutes United went close to restoring the two-goal lead. Baldock's neat pass inside put McGoldrick clear but his shot hit a post and was cleared to safety. Henderson's last action, before a number of Blades changes, was to bat away an effort from Robinson to protect United's lead.
McGoldrick tried his luck from range but was off target and he was replaced in the second round of substitutions on 77 minutes.
Bradford made changes throughout the second half and one of their substitutes, GIBSON, squeezed the ball home at Steele's near post to level the scores on 80 minutes.
United took just four minutes to restore the lead, however. A patient move across the Bradford box saw SHARP's deflected shot beat the home side's substitute goalkeeper.
It was the last action as United recorded a third successive pre-season win.
