Sheffield United Women have signed New Zealand international midfielder Olivia Chance on a short-term contract.

The 26-year-old joins the club after leaving FA Women's Super League side Bristol City at the end of last season.

Chance spent three years playing in the USA during her college career before moving to Iceland for a year in 2016.

Her career in England began with a move to Everton in 2017 where she spent 18 months before joining Bristol in time for last season, making 14 appearances in the FA WSL.

Chance is a regular in the New Zealand squad and started all three of the team's games at last summer's World Cup in France, scoring her first goal for her country earlier this year against Belgium in the Algarve Cup.

An exciting midfielder with an eye for goal, Chance is looking forward to getting back on the pitch as the Blades face six games in the next five weeks.

"It's nice to be back playing. The sessions have been good and I've enjoyed the intensity, the short, sharp nature of them. I'd had some good discussions with Neil beforehand and I like him as a coach and as a person. I think that really helped my decision to come to the club.

"It's always exciting to be joining a new club and to play football, especially this year when there's been so much inconsistency. I'm looking forward to maybe having a bit more of the ball than I did last season, playing for a team that is so strong in their league."

Head coach Neil Redfearn is also delighted to have added even more quality and depth to his squad.

"Olivia is a great addition to the squad. She's a current New Zealand international and has excellent drive to succeed, she brings a real wealth of experience and game craft to the group. It's great to be able to have Liv's quality in the group."

Sheffield United Women host London Bees on Sunday 27th September, 2pm, the game will be played behind closed doors. Extended highlights and the full match will be available to watch on Monday on the FA Player.
