Sheffield United Women's development team have entered the FA Women's National League Midlands Reserve Division after a season away from playing league fixtures.
The move means United's youngsters will get competitive football throughout the 2020/21 season, starting with a home fixture against Loughborough Foxes on Sunday 20th September.
The development side will also face the development sides from the likes of West Brom, Wolves and Stoke City, as well as Leicester City who Neil Redfearn's first team will compete against in the FA Women's Championship this season.
With a proven pathway for young players to progress into the first team, the move will aid head coach Lois Daniels in further helping to develop her players, a move she is excited about ahead of her team's return to action.
"We can't wait to be back playing in a league," said Daniels. "We're building a really strong squad who will take great benefit from competitive games and I am sure it will encourage their development, growth and maturity as a team and individuals."
