Defender Ellie Wilson says the ambition of the club is what attracted her to the club after joining the team from fellow FA Women's Championship side London Bees.
The 23-year-old spent two years in north London after representing Bristol City in the FA Women's Super League and now the versatile defender is embarking on a new journey with the Blades ahead of the new campaign.
"I'm really, really pleased to be joining. It's really exciting times for the club, especially after how well the team did last season, that was a big selling point for me.
"The ambition is pretty clear from the club and that matches my ambitions. It's definitely an exciting time for me to be coming in. Sheffield United as a club is definitely somewhere I want to be playing as a next step in my career because of the ambition and where the club wants to go."
Wilson was part of a Bees side which finished solidly in mid-table last season, but she knows she's coming into a team that is looking to go one step further than last season's second-place finish and is already feeling the determination from her new team mates to do that this season.
"It probably feels like unfinished business from the team's side. You can feel that hunger and drive from everybody and aside from that it's just nice to be able to enjoy football again, to be able to do team training rather than individual training and that combined with coming into a squad where everyone is on the same wavelength and wants to achieve something is really exciting.
"I've settled in really well and really enjoyed the training so far. The girls have been great, they're a really good bunch. It's obviously been difficult coming in with restricted training groups first but you also get to know people on a personal level a bit more than normal."
A former England youth team player all the way up to under 23 level, Wilson can play all across the defence and in such an attacking team is looking forward to putting her influence on the side in both attack and defence.
"I am versatile, I can play on both sides of the pitch. I like to attack, I'm very attacking and I like to think I can join in the attacks as much as I can help the defence at the back. I'm really competitive, I'm just a competitive person in general. I want to win and I'm driven and I hope that adds to the team's overall ambition too."
With the Blades heading to London City Lionesses on the opening day of the new season before a home game against an improving Leicester City, Wilson is looking forward to getting under way and is expecting one of the most competitive Championship seasons yet.
"I think the way it's shaping up is going to be really exciting. Liverpool are obviously going to be gunning to go straight back up. Leicester are going to be strong, Durham, Bees and a few others are really strong and I think the standard is getting higher every year.
"It's a good thing for the game but I do think we'll be able to match that. We want to come out on top and I think there's going to be some really competitive battles out on the pitch."
