Two goals in the final minutes gave Sheffield United Women a dramatic victory away at top division side Liverpool in the club's opening Continental Cup match of the season.
The Blades fought and competed throughout against higher placed opposition but an incredible conclusion saw Maddy Cusack and Jade Pennock score stunning goals in the final minutes.
Carla Ward's side never looked out of place and started on the front foot, Pennock going close early on after a neat one-two with Aimee Palmer.
The next twenty minutes saw both sides go close again as Katie Wilkinson saw an effort blocked before Becky Flaherty got down well to hold Rinsola Babajide's effort.
Wilkinson went closer still when she fired a powerful effort just wide minutes after Cusack tested Anke Preuss, but Liverpool took the lead just after the half hour mark.
A quick counter looked to have been thwarted when Chloe Dixon made a superb last ditch block to deny Jess Clarke, but Ash Hodson slid home the rebound to give Liverpool the lead.
The Blades reacted well though as both Pennock and Cusack sent teasing balls across the face of goal but it took until the second half for United to get what they deserved.
A corner from the left saw Wilkinson rise highest and as her header bounced down off the crossbar, the linesman eventually raised his flag to signal the ball had crossed his line.
But within minutes of drawing level, Liverpool re-took the lead when substitute Niamh Charles headed home Jemma Purfield's cross past Flaherty.
It was then in the final five minutes the game swung United's way in dramatic fashion. Minutes after seeing a volley flash over, Cusack unleashed a stunning curling effort from distance which dipped over Flaherty and in off the crossbar.
Liverpool's Jade Bailey was sent off soon after for a second bookable offence and the Blades smelt a winner with the game heading towards penalties.
After Wilkinson saw a free-kick deflect wide deep into stoppage time, Pennock dinked a sensational effort over Preuss with seconds to go to record a superb win for the Blades.
