Sheffield United Women can confirm Sophie Barker will captain the club ahead of the 2019/20 FA Women's Championship season.
Barker joined the club last summer from Doncaster Rovers Belles in time for our debut campaign in the Championship and the 28-year-old now takes on the armband after former captain Ellie Gilliatt departed the club.
The midfielder, who previously played for Lincoln Ladies in the FA Women's Super League before a spell at Sheffield FC, was a vital member of the Blades squad and featured in every one of the club's league games last season.
New signing Katie Wilkinson will act as vice-captain for the new season after joining from London Bees.
The former Aston Villa forward could make her official debut against Gemma Davies's side on Sunday afternoon and manager Carla Ward is happy to confirm both as her captain and vice-captain respectively for the new season.
"We set out early on what we expected in the role and there were a number of options but Barks and Wilko stepped up and have really shown the leadership skills we were looking for within the group."
