28 August 2019

Six Sheffield United Women players have been called up by their relevant national teams for the upcoming FIFA international window.

Five players are heading away with various age groups within the Lionesses system while Veatriki Sarri is heading to a camp with the Greece national team.

Sarri has been in sparkling form during United's first two games of the FA Women's Championship, her assist for the team's fourth goal on Sunday a particular highlight of the 7-1 win against Leicester City.

The player she assisted, Aimee Palmer, is with the England Under 21s for a three-game camp at Loughborough University and has been joined by defender Ellie Fletcher.

The duo could face Sweden in this afternoon's first match of the Nordic Tournament with further games scheduled against the USA on Friday and Norway on Monday.

Centre-back Naomi Hartley could also be in action later today as the Under 19s prepare for two games against Denmark, the second of which takes place on Saturday as the team continues preparations for October's Women's Under 19 European Championship qualifiers.

Youngsters Keri Matthews and Izzy Ford are also away on a training camp with the Under 18s. Matthews has started both of United's Championship games so far and has already shown her talent at such a young age, while Ford links up with her club team mate after coming back from injury during pre-season.
