United's women recorded their second victory over the season thanks to Jade Pennock's first half strike at Crystal Palace.
Carla Ward's side had control of the first half but didn't manage to build on their advantage but held on despite the hosts having some big chances of their own.
It was a nervy opening minutes when Alex Brooks almost spilled Chloe Burr's cross over the line and Ashlee Hincks somehow diverted a cross wide from inside the six-yard box but the Blades soon took control of the encounter.
Bex Rayner, who was influential drifting forward from midfield, went on several mazy runs but saw her efforts blocked on several occasions whilst Jade Pennock had a few looks at goal before opening the scoring.
Danielle Cox saw a header disallowed but United did make their pressure tell when Pennock was played in by Jodie Michalska, making her first start, and did the rest by slotting past Salgado.
Beth Merrick was next to see her attempts on goal blocked before Michalska fired over under pressure as United looked to extend their lead before the break.
The game was equally open after half-time, Sophie Barker's speculative volley was well over while Sophie Jones tried an ambitious overhead kick which went wide.
Ellie Gilliatt fired an attempt straight at Salgado before United's own goalkeeper Alex Brooks produced a fine save to deny Hannah Mackenzie an equaliser.
Palace put plenty of pressure on United but in truth Ward's side were never massively troubled and held on to record what was a well-deserved and hard-fought victory on the road.
