Having been part of the U23s title winning squad under Paul Heckingbottom, Gordon made his full debut for his boyhood club in the Carabao Cup in August 2021, featuring in wins against Carlisle United and Derby County.

The young centre half then played in the FA Cup tie at Wolves before making five Championship appearances which included four starts.
