A versatile defender with Premier League and international experience, Godfrey arrived on a season-long loan at Bramall Lane from Serie A outfit Atalanta in August, debuting against Millwall on his return to his home county having been born and raised in York, progressing through the ranks at his hometown club.

Godfrey impressed at Norwich City before making the move to Everton and during his time at Goodison Park he earnt international recognition.
