The Sheffield United Community Foundation have taken to public fundraising via the Aviva Community Fund website to create a weekly loneliness session that is free and open for any over the age of 60 that wishes to find some conversation and friendship.

The efforts are well underway with close to £2,000 raised towards the £5,000 target. The project will aim to create a safe social space for Sheffield's elderly residents to come together as a group, have a cuppa and chin wag that many of us perhaps take for granted.

If supporters are able to and would like to help the Blades family end forever isolation, please click here to donate securely.
