Billy Sharp's believes United's defensive record in 2019, has played a major part in the Blades pursuit of automatic promotion.
Speaking ahead of Saturday's clash against Bristol City, which United enter having kept seven consecutive clean sheets, the skipper says it's been a real team effort, but admitted the last lines of defence deserved a special mention.
He remarked: "Tightening up defensively was something I spoke about as we turned the year, we knew we had to grind out those 1-0 wins if we were to be considered serious contenders for promotion.
"Thankfully we have and everyone has played their part. We attack as a team and start defending from the front, but the lads at the back deserve the plaudits really, for the way they've put their bodies on the line in recent weeks.
"Dean Henderson has been excellent, producing big saves at crucial times and he's been supported fantastically well by those in front him too."
