Chris Wilder praised his players character and mentality following the New Year's Day success at Wigan Athletic.
Speaking after the 3-0 victory at the DW Stadium, Wilder heaped the plaudits on those involved in Lancashire, reserving a special mention for the goalscorers.
He commented: "The players showed me on Monday they wanted to go again, especially the skipper.
"He perhaps had it in the back of his mind that he might not start, along with the likes of McGoldrick and Mark Duffy, in the high energy positions at the top of the pitch."
Wilder added: "But he's wants to keep going and he's doing fantastically well and keeping us going, right to the end when he's chipping in defensively.
"Billy has been fantastic recently and for me deserves all the plaudits he gets."
