Billy Sharp wants to commit his long-term future to the Blades and hopes to sign a new deal soon.
The skipper remarked: "I'm in talks with the club about a new contract, I've triggered my extra year now, but I want to be here longer.
"I've got plenty more in me, I want to get it sorted and get it signed, so I can focus on scoring more goals for Sheffield United."
Looking ahead, Sharp says it's important the Blades build on Saturday's point at Norwich City in the coming weeks, as they prepare for trips to the likes of Aston Villa, West Brom and Leeds United.
United's leading marksman added: "We've got some tough away games coming up, people talk about us winning our home games which is always the plan, but we need to pick up points on the road too.
"That's how you normally win promotion. We need to keep the belief, the confidence and be brave like we have done, if we do, we'll keep picking up points.
"I'm just trying to score goals for the club at the moment but getting to a 100 would be a nice achievement for myself, I'm just happy my goals are bringing us points."
