Chris Wilder has added more experienced firepower to his squad, ahead of the closure of the January transfer window.
Aston Villa striker Scott Hogan arrives at Bramall Lane on-loan until the end of the season, becoming boss Wilder's third signing of the month, following the arrivals of Kieran Dowell and Gary Madine.
The Blades boss is delighted with Hogan's capture after a long pursuit: "I've made no secret of my admiration for Scott and his abilities, we made enquiries about him in the last window and we've had to be patient.
"He is a player we know a lot about and we are confident that he will be a great addition to what we already have. Options at the top end of the pitch are vitally important and in the situation we find ourselves in, Scott offers us a new dimension.
"Also, Scott had options but he made it clear that he wanted to join us and that goes a long way in my book."
The Republic of Ireland international began his career in non-league, listing Woodley Sports, Halifax Town, Stocksbridge Park Steels, Ashton United and Hyde amongst his early clubs.
The 26-year-old first shot to prominence during a prolific spell at Rochdale. He scored 19 times in 40 games, during his only season at Spotland. Brentford swooped for his services in the summer of 2014 and he netted 21 times in 36 outings for the Bees.
In January 2017, Hogan's impressive form earned him a big money move to Villa Park. Last season he played 42 times as Villa were beaten in the play-off final by Fulham at Wembley.
