John Egan believes consistency will be crucial in the final 18 games of the Sky Bet Championship campaign, as United look to strengthen their place in the upper echelons of the table.
Speaking ahead of Saturday's trip to Norfolk to face second-placed Norwich City, the Republic of Ireland international is backing the Blades to respond positively following last week's loss at Swansea.
He remarked: "When you are losing by the odd goal, they are the games you feel you should be getting at least a draw from, there has been a few games this season.
"It sums up the league though and the league will reward consistency between now and the end of the season."
Egan continued: "The league table doesn't lie, we are fourth and fourth for a reason, but we believe we should be even higher.
"In this league you can't look too far ahead, you have to think about the next game and trying to get three points.
"If you start thinking about 10-15 games down the line you are taking your eye off the ball, all we do is prepare on the next challenge and trying to win that game before moving on to the next one."
