Experienced defender Martin Cranie will remain a Blade for the rest of the current campaign, after signing a contract extension.
The 32-year-old has proved to be a valuable member of the squad, having signed a short-term deal at Bramall Lane at the end of the summer transfer window, following his release by Middlesbrough.
Cranie has made two league starts for the Blades this season, in away games at Nottingham Forest and Wigan Athletic, acting as an able deputy for the suspended Chris Basham in the victory at the DW Stadium on New Year's Day.
Boss Chris Wilder has nothing but praise for the former Huddersfield and Barnsley man, he remarked: "Martin is an excellent professional and has been a valuable member of the squad this season.
"He's zero maintenance, he just comes in and works hard and when called upon, he's been ready and let no-one down."
