Richard Stearman was delighted to have made a telling contribution against Middlesbrough on Wednesday night.
Speaking after his header winning in front of the Kop, the experienced defender admit it was a personal high for him, in a season where he hasn't featured as often as he'd have hoped.
He remarked: "It was a massive result for us, especially after last Friday at Villa where we felt we dropped a couple of points.
"It was a kick in the teeth that one and it was important we bounced back, the boys were fantastic.
"Ollie (Norwood) has got such good and consistent set piece delivery, so I knew that if I put myself in an area there was a chance I could get on the end of it, thankfully I did.
"You saw a season of frustration come out of me in the celebration, because it's been a tough one personally.
"I've kept my head down though, trained hard, supported the lads that have been playing and made sure I was right for when called upon.
"Whenever I get on the pitch, I've got to produce the best possible performance to try and help the team and thankfully the goal against Middlesbrough got us a valuable three points."
