Wilder reflects on Newcastle reversal

Chris Wilder refused to be critical of his players, despite slipping to defeat against Newcastle United at Bramall Lane on Thursday evening.

And whilst the Blades boss was disappointed to give the visitors something to hold on to when Allan Saint-Maximin opened the scoring in the first half, he was pleased with the application and endeavor of his side on a frustrating evening at S2.

Wilder felt United would have gone on to win the game if they'd have found a way past the impressive Martin Dubravka, having dominated possession for the entirety of the match.

But ultimately a controversial VAR call went against the Blades with 20 minutes remaining and Jonjo Shelvey's goal 'sucked the life out of us', in the eyes of the manager.
