United have bolstered the goalkeeping department ahead of the Premier League campaign, with deadline signing of Dutch stopper Michael Verrips.

The 22-year-old arrives at Bramall Lane on a free transfer, penning a four-year deal. His arrival at S2 will see him compete with Dean Henderson, Simon Moore and Marcus Dewhurst.
Verrips began his youth career at SBV Vitesse, before progressing through the ranks at PSV Eindhoven.

Following his departure from PSV in 2013, Verrips signed his first professional contract with FC Twente, before moving to Sparta Rotterdam.

He then spent the 2017/18 campaign on-loan at MVV Maastricht in what proved a breakthrough campaign, with Verrips playing all 38 league games and both play-off ties against Almere City.

In the summer of 2018, Verrips joined Belgian First Division outfit KV Mechelen where he made 27 appearances before leaving this summer.

Speaking upon ratification of the move, the imposing stopper remarked: "It was nice to train with my team-mates and I'm looking forward to travelling with the squad to Bournemouth.

"I've been welcomed well and I'm looking forward to the challenge, I've already got a good impression about the club and the people here.

"I'm happy with the trust that has been shown in me and I'm looking forward to showing people what I can do."

Verrips is the ninth addition this summer, following the arrivals of Luke Freeman, Phil Jagielka, Callum Robinson, Ravel Morrison, Lys Mousset, Ben Osborn, Dean Henderson and Oli McBurnie.
