Chris Wilder acknowledged the role the 5,577 travelling fans played in United's victory at Deepdale on Saturday.
Whilst reflecting on the victory over Alex Neil's Preston North End, Wilder remarked: "It's a great away performance and result and how can you forget the supporters in terms of the reception they have the players and myself.
"And also how they drove the team on in the second-half, it was amazing and humbling at times, trying to help their team get over the line, they played a massive part in the result.
"If you want to achieve something and win games of football you have to be together, whatever level, you have to get rid of the individual in you."
Wilder added: "You need players that are committed and say yes to everything we do and thankfully we've got that.
"Who knows what this result could or will mean, we won't know until we sit and reflect in the summer, there is an awful lot of amount of football still to be played."
