David McGoldrick says Saturday's win at Preston was about the points more than the performance.
Speaking after his 13th goal of the season moved the Blades back above Leeds, who lost at Birmingham City, the Republic of Ireland international was delighted to have made the decisive contribution in what was an open game.
He remarked: "We were edgy at times, but that's to be expected, from now until the end of the season it's all about the points.
"It's a tough place to come, but we managed to grind it out, they had a few chances, but luckily enough we took ours and it was enough to win the game.
"We were good in patches, Preston were too, but it was never going to be a perfect performance, but all that matters is the result."
McGoldrick added: "Preston are fighting for the top six, they are good at home and wanted the points just as much as we did.
"We work throughout the week on set-pieces, we wanted to get Egan round to the back post, it's took a few touches, I anticipated it was going to hit the bar and thankfully I managed to tuck it away."
