Chris Wilder is confident skipper Billy Sharp will be involved in Saturday's clash against Ipswich Town at Bramall Lane.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, the boss remarked: "We're confident Billy will be involved at the weekend, as you can imagine he's desperate to get back out there.
"But he has to be right, he has to be fit because I'm not going to leave someone off the bench or out of the team if he's not right.
"If he is right he will be in the 18 and I will look at it on Friday after training to decide whether or not he starts, he has to be honest and he will be.
"I've got the likes of Coutts and Freeman who are desperate to be involved, but the difficult task of picking the right team falls on me and I have to get that right."
The Blades boss then went on to praise his coaching staff, by adding: "I always say it's away from the lights is where the work is done and we've got a big sign in the gym reminding everyone of that.
"There are a lot of people who play a big part in our success, there's Alan (Knill), Darren (Ward) and Matt (Prestridge) in terms of senior staff, but there is a host of others who work diligently and honestly to prepare the players.
"At good football clubs the team is underpinned by a fantastic group of staff who work all hours to achieve and help the players."
