John Egan believes the Blades are reaping the rewards for consistency in their approach to attacking the Sky Bet Championship this term.
Speaking ahead of welcoming Ipswich Town to Bramall Lane, the Republic of Ireland international thinks the Blades are in second place on merit.
He remarked: "It's really good for any player to play in a team where he knows exactly what is expected of him.
"Everyone here knows how to play their position in what is a unique system. It's been worked on and it's brought us success this season and before that too.
"I know first-hand how difficult it is to play against, having faced it last season and I always thought they were on top of you across the pitch.
"We've taken it on and improved and it's a big knowing everyone is on the same page, we're a strong team and a really good team."
Egan added: "The clean sheets are important for the defenders and the goalkeeper, but we defend from the front and everyone does their bit, ultimately it's helped us get in the position we are in.
"Personally it's been a great season for me, but more importantly it has for the team and hopefully it can get even better."
