Chris Wilder says several players are pushing for a place in his team at Millwall on Saturday, following a behind closed-doors fixture in midweek.
United hosted Bury at Shirecliffe on Tuesday and Wilder admits it was a much needed and beneficial workout to all those involved.
He remarked: "We had a game on Tuesday and several lads got 90 minutes. The likes of Leon, Washington, Woodburn, Cranie and Stearman all featured.
"It was a strong side and competitive game, players are happiest playing matches and they should be disappointed when they aren't in the team.
"We believe in putting on these games so we can recreate match scenarios and Bury will have got a good workout from the fixture too.
"Everyone is fitness and raring to go for Millwall, several are pushing to get into the team, including Paul Coutts."
The Blades boss added: "We've enjoyed a good positive week, after a game we had to win twice last Saturday.
"We've looked into that performance, the boys are receptive into our views and opinions, but most importantly we wanted theirs because it's a partnership between us and them and we're still learning in this division."
