Chris Wilder insists the Blades must pick up where they left off when they return to Sky Bet Championship action at the weekend.
United headed into the October international break on the back of four consecutive league victories for the second time this season, but the manager says they can be no let up in the Blades intensity.
He remarked: "We've worked really hard. The players have had some time off, but we were in after the Hull game and trained well in the early part of the week.
"The lads had the weekend off and we returned on Monday. If you ask the players, they will tell you we've worked them really hard and we have to keep the hammer down.
"We have to keep putting the work into them, it's been a depleted group at times with the boys away but the ones here need to keep their own standards high."
Wilder added: "We must remain consistent with our attitude and try and keep playing well and picking up points.
"We can't look too far ahead of ourselves, we've got another set of games now where we will need to play well to get results and that's our focus, regardless of the opposition.
"The squad is strong in terms of the competition within the group, we analysed it in the summer and worked hard to make sure we had competition in all areas of the team, we have that now."
