Mark Duffy believes Ben Woodburn can still flourish with the Blades this season.
And the experienced performer is adamant this loan stint in the second tier will only aid Woodburn's long-term progress.
The 33-year-old commented: "Ben is a really good player, obviously he's come from Liverpool, but he's found the Championship tough and that's because it is a unique league really.
"The intensity of the game, the Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday runs of fixtures can be difficult to come to terms with, it's a big change from development football to this level.
"People expected him to take to it like a duck to water but it takes time and he just needs minutes on the pitch, which is difficult as we've been doing well.
"I know for a fact Ben will be a better player for this experience, he'll still be learning and he'll leave a far better player it."
Duffy added: "My football upbringing certainly toughened me up and it makes me appreciate what I've got now.
"You don't want to give it up, even though I get on with Ben really, we're competing for a spot in the team and I don't want to give that up to anyone."
