Due to suspension, following his fifth yellow card of the campaign, Chris Basham is not available for Saturday's trip to Nottingham Forest but he featured in the manager's thoughts in the pre-match press conference.
Chris Wilder, who hopes John Egan and Mark Duffy will be fit after the duo missed the victory over Wigan Athletic, was quizzed on Basham being awarded a new contract.
"It should get concluded soon," said the Blades chief. "There are discussions with agents, I'll leave it to the club to get it tied down.
"Bash has loved his time here, especially the last two and a half years. It's plain to see what he gives you from every angle. Hopefully he carries on playing in the manner he has been. He's fit and looks after himself and hopefully he has a big part to play in the future."
Wilder also hinted that Basham's contract talks may not be the only ones taking place. He added: "We rarely let contracts run down, unless players don't want to sign. We are always looking and planning and I want us to move forward."
