Speaking ahead of Sunday's final game of the Sky Bet Championship season, Chris Wilder says he will look back on United's first campaign back in the second tier with pride.
He remarked: "I've tried all season to get a team with a bottom six budget into the top six of the division and for 45 games we've been in and around it and it has been an outstanding achievement.
"We've been down and disappointed this week though, because we got ourselves in a fantastic position and we've been top of the team, ahead of some big, powerful club, who've spent millions.
"We're not going to finish where we'd have hoped, but we've been on Sky an awful lot and we've entertained and gone about things in a positive manner."
The boss added: "But we're going to finish above a lot of big clubs, whose season probably ended before Christmas.
"Now though, the aim is to finish on a high and a win on Sunday would be for our terrific supporters."
