David Brooks played the second-half as a youthful Wales side held Mexico to a goalless draw in Pasadena.
Brooks replaced former United loanee Sam Vokes at the break, as Ryan Giggs' side were forced to withstand heavy second-half pressure in front of an almost entirely Mexican crowd of 82,345 at the Rose Bowl on Tuesday.
Midfielder Lee Evans was an used substitute in a game that saw Giggs give youth a chance against their World Cup bound opponents.
Meanwhile, Enda Stevens was an unused substitute as the Republic of Ireland were beaten 2-0 by France.
But Stevens could make his senior debut at the weekend, as Ireland host the USA at the Aviva Stadium.
