Boss Chris Wilder hopes Leon Clarke and James Wilson could come into contention for Saturday's trip to Ipswich Town, but they will only do so if fully fit.
Both strikers missed the loss at Fulham on Tuesday night, having picked up knocks against Reading and Leicester respectively, but Wilder hopes to have both at his disposal pretty soon.
He remarked: "Leon will have a test before we travel on Friday. It's an important time of the season, but we don't want to lose him for 10 games if he plays on Saturday.
"But obviously if he is fit, he will stick his hand up to play if he is right and ready, but we won't take risks on him.
"He's worked extremely hard since coming off at Reading and he was close for Fulham, there is no picking and choosing games with my players.
"So he'll be given every chance, the same applies to James Wilson really, but again we won't take any unnecessary risks."
Wilder added: "Kieron (Freeman) is another pushing hard and is getting closer. George (Baldock) has done very well, but it's more competition for places."
