Leon Clarke and Ched Evans could return to Chris Wilder's matchday squad for Saturday's clash against Nottingham Forest at Bramall Lane.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, the Blades boss spoke primarily about the fitness and well-being of the striking duo.
He remarked: "Leon came close again on Tuesday, we want everyone fit, that's the message to the players and Leon has been a big part of our achievements so far, so we hope he will be in the 18 at the weekend.
"Ched played 65 minutes in the U23s on Wednesday rather than being on the bench on Tuesday, we looked at the options we might needed and it worked, with Brooksy coming off the bench and scoring."
Wilder added: "Ched did well at Ipswich and got a fantastic reception off the supporters, but he needs to play games and having played very little first-team football this season it was important Ched built on the weekend.
"We play the game properly, there is no rolling about trying to get players booked or sent off and when players tackle ours I want them to get up and get on with it.
