A disappointing day at the office saw a very young U18s side comfortably beaten by Cardiff City.
The hosts began with a flurry, scoring twice in the opening 10 minutes with a cross form the right being turned in and a shot from the centre of the box beating goalkeeper Kelly.
Another quick succession of goals followed, three in 15 minutes putting the Bluebirds in firm command with a header from a corner, a shot from the edge of the box, and an effort from close range all finding the net and Craig Bellamy's side got their sixth just before the break.
Despite the scoreline the Blades continued to battle but were not enough to match the physicality of City as they got their seventh following a break down the left
United didn't create anything of significance despite their efforts and conceded an eighth and final goal in the closing stages with a ball through the middle finding the forward who slotted past Kelly to finish off proceedings.
Blades: S. Kelly, Weaver, Boyes, Neal, Gordon, Belehouan (Noble 67), J. Kelly, Potts (Lambert 58), Swinburn (Ackroyd 45), Ompreon, Cappello.
