Chris Wilder is delighted that Dean Henderson made the decision to make the move to Bramall Lane.
The Manchester United stopper, who signed a new deal at Old Trafford last week, penned a season-long loan at S2 on Monday and Wilder knows the stopper was well sought after by rival Championship clubs.
He remarked: "We've know a lot about Dean for the last two or three seasons really and we've tracked his progress.
"He was the outstanding goalkeeper in the EFL last year in my opinion. We met him and spoke to people he's worked with and played with, in addition to having watched him consistently last season.
"And we're delighted he sees his immediate future here with us, not only an outstanding young goalkeeper, but he has a fantastic attitude to improve himself and be involved in hopefully a successful club in the Championship."
The manager added: "I'm not saying for one minute that every loan signing is a success, James Wilson last season wasn't for both parties, but we have good relationships with the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham and that's important.
"Part of our recruitment is going to come from top Premier League clubs and these clubs we're talking about are right up there."
