Chris Wilder was happy to see his side begin pre-season with a victory on Friday evening.
Speaking in the aftermath of a 5-1 success over Stocksbridge Park Steels at Bracken Moor, Wilder was pleased to reward the travelling supporters with five goals.
He remarked: "We're in good nick and we enjoy coming up to Stocksbridge for our first game. It was a healthy crowd despite the World Cup being on.
"The boys have got as much out of the game as they possible could have. We will get Jake (Wright) checked out straight away, but we're hopeful it isn't anything too serious."
The United manager added: "The clock is always ticking in pre-season and no matter what other work you do, the players always want to get out there and make contact with other players.
"We're disappointed we didn't score more goals, from the chances we created, but that wasn't the be all and end all, importantly we got back into the rhythm of playing football."
