"It is brilliant, the whole team are together and getting to know each other, it is one of the tightest groups I've ever played in," the words of Ricky Holmes on United's pre-season training camp in Portugal.
The attacker, who arrived in January, is part of the squad that's been involved in some gruelling sessions in the Portuguese heat, but he's also enjoying the bonding side of the six-day trip.
"We are with each other more than our own families. We understand the importance of that and if you haven't got each other's backs, you are not going to do it for each other - that side of things goes a long way in football. We went away together at the end of last season and it emphasised that we've got a great set of lads."
Ricky was speaking to the iFollow cameras after another tough session. He added: "It got ramped up today (Tuesday), we need it, we have a while until the season starts but the coaches said it would be ramped up and it truly has been.
"Pre-season with the gaffer and Knilly at Northampton was similar but this has been tougher, the gaffer keeps emphasising that we need to be fitter and stronger to get over the hurdle after Christmas and it is showing in our runs.
"There's a competitive edge to everything and we need that to be winners in this league. We have competition all over the pitch and you need to prove yourself out here to make that first game of the season."
