United's playing squad were put through their paces at Ponds Forge on Thursday afternoon, with a gym session followed by some time in the swimming pool.
And the Blades first-team coach Matt Prestridge explained the benefits of getting away from the club's Shirecliffe base during the opening weeks of pre-season.
He remarked: "It's a change of scenery for us and something we've enjoyed doing previously.
"It gives the players the chances to come and work somewhere fresh as they spend a lot of days at the training ground during what is a long hard season.
"Coming to somewhere like Ponds Forge gives us a different gym to work in and also access to the swimming facilities, which are great.
"We really like to come to places like this and EIS during pre-season because we can come out for the afternoon and get a good block of work done."
Prestridge added: "The players know they've got a responsibility to keep themselves in good shape throughout the summer months and as a staff we try and give them every resource possible to help them.
"We also encourage them to rest, enjoy themselves and spend time with the family, but it's important they come back in good nick and they have, so we can get some work into them straight away.
"We want to take things pretty quickly and we're really looking to kick on ahead of the season getting underway on the 4th August."
