Simon Moore insists he never wanted to leave Bramall Lane, despite interest from West Bromwich Albion.

Speaking after penning and new and improved contract, that ties him to United until the summer of 2021, the 28-year-old believes the Blades will see the best of him in the future.

He remarked: "I'm really happy, it's been an up and down couple of weeks, but I'm really pleased to get this new deal sorted. Since day one, I've enjoyed my time here and hopefully I can make some more good memories.

"The deal gives me some stability and I love Sheffield as a city. The lads here are fantastic, I've got friends here now, not just team-mates and I feel I'm coming into the best years of my career.

"I was aware in the interest and obviously it is always flattering, but I'm happy here, I'm settled and I love working with a fantastic coach, in Darren Ward.

"Every time I play for Sheffield United I'm proud to do so, just look at the Inter game, that shows just how big this club is and I think it can get bigger still in the future."

Moore added: "Competition in the Championship is high, and the manager wants competition for places which brings out the best in all the lads.

"Deano (Henderson) has come in and one day will play at the top level, he's a fantastic goalkeeper, but I know if I train hard and improve in the areas I need to, then I will have every chance of playing too."
