Chris Basham remains one of the fittest members of the Blades squad and he completed 90 minutes in Thursday night's friendly fixture with Maritimo in Portugal.
United recorded a 1-0 win thanks to a solid defensive performance and a late winner from Ched Evans.
"It is always good to blow the cob webs off you, for the first 10 minutes we huffed and puffed but after that we got into our stride and the boys did well, we kept a clean sheet and won it at the end," said Chris. "The gaffer builds us on keeping clean sheets nice for Hendo early in his time here."
The game against Maritimo was part of a week's training in Portugal as the Blades prepare for the new Championship season.
"It has been a tough week in training, but the lads have been pulling each other through. I've come back strong and the young lads are still chasing me at 30-years-old.
"The game was quite mild, there was some air, that's not been the case at some of our training sessions this week."
