Chris Wilder admits he now has the options available to him to make changes to his side if he desires.
Speaking ahead of Saturday's teatime clash with leaders Wolves, the manager remarked: "We go again, it was a disappointing result the other night, but there were a lot of positives to take as we ready ourselves to face another giant in the division.
"I needed and wanted the options to be able to mix the team up from Tuesday to Saturday and it's common in the division.
"It's down to me now to pick the right team and system to get a result at Wolves, it's my responsibility.
"Jamal (Blackman) is getting closer to a return, he should be back here on Monday to train, having had his treatment at Chelsea."
Speaking following the closure of the transfer window, which saw Samir Carruthers not move out on-loan as expected, Wilder explained the situation.
He added: "There were a couple of clubs interested in Samir, but it didn't pan out, as it might not have for a lot players up and down the country on Wednesday evening.
"Samir needs to get his head down and work hard in training, he will remain part of the group and if he gets an opportunity he must take it."
