It was honours even at Stocksbridge on Thursday, as United were held by Crewe Alexandra.
Jordan Hallam opened the scoring for the Blades but a goal right on half time pegged the Blades back at Bracken Moor.
United would strike first on three minutes as Smith teed up HALLAM just inside the area and he curled into the far top corner first time.
The ball would be in the net for a second time shortly afterwards but Smith's header was ruled out for offside.
Hallam almost extended United's lead after 18 minutes but his shot flew over following a lay off from Wright.
The Blades continued to dominate and on the half hour from Slater's free-kick, it was Wright who was denied by Garratt.
But Crewe would equalise right on half time as a dummy wrongfooted Graham and DALE converted at the second attempt after a fine initial save by Warhurst.
United almost reclaimed the lead two minutes after the break as Mallon broke down the left and crossed into the centre but Wright's header was straight at Garratt.
A brilliant last-ditch tackle from Mallon kept the scores level as Griffiths barred down on goal. At the other end, the Blades also went close as Wright headed over Slater's corner.
Garratt was forced into a good stop as Slater went on a solo run from half way and struck from just outside the box.
The Blades would come closer in the final 15 minutes and it was Wright yet again who won the ball from the defender, drove forward and fired just wide of the far post.
The Railwaymen had a golden chance with five minutes remaining as they picked up on a poor kick from Warhurst and Dale had the goal at his mercy only for him to fire wide.
In the final minute United had huge appeals for a penalty waved away by referee Kirk, as Norrington-Davies was seemingly bundled over by a flurry of defenders.
