Half time substitute David Brooks inspired a dramatic victory away at Hull City with an assist and a late winner to help the U23s get back to winning ways.

Monday's game at North Ferriby also saw Ben Heneghan play 90 minutes and Kieron Freeman play the final half an hour on his return from injury.

The opening stages of the game were quiet with a low effort from Hull's McKenzie being well blocked following a corner the most noteworthy action of the first quarter of an hour.

United would have their first opportunity on 23 minutes as Gilmour's corner was met by Heneghan but his header rose just over the bar.

Hull began to mount on the pressure in the next few minutes as Edwards and Luer linked up on multiple occasions but the latter struggled to keep his attempts on target as the former continued to create.

The two would combine again shorty after as Luer this time was the provider but Edwards could only volley wide of Warhurst's goal as the game remained goalless.

This liveliness resulted in a Blades chance as some neat build up play saw Norrington-Davies in the box and his well struck shot had to be tipped over by Mannion in the Tigers goal.

Welsh international Brooks was introduced for the start of the second half and made an immediate impact carrying the ball down the right and sticking in a great low cross for HALLAM to slot home from close range on 49 minutes.

The hosts would have a sustained spell of pressure as the final 20 minutes rolled around after a quiet period and an effort from Yates was spilled by Warhurst but Hinchliffe couldn't turn home the follow up as the Blades just cleared.

An equaliser would come on 77 minutes though as a corner came in and Warhurst made a good stop to deny Olley but EDWARDS was the quickest to react and poked in from very close range to level the scores.

But deep into injury time the Blades grabbed themselves a last gasp winner as BROOKS broke free into the area and lifted over Mannion with the last kick of the game to snatch the spoils.

Blades: Warhurst, Mallon, Norrington-Davies, Graham, Heneghan, Doherty, Gilmour (Brooks 45), Slater, Wright, Hallam (Freeman 60), Smith.
Unused: Kelly, Semple, Oure.
